Chakras and the Body – Root Chakra

The human body has a subtle energy system with hundreds of locations containing focused and concentrated energy. However, there are seven major energy centers, which represent one of the most foundational subtle energy systems called the chakras. Chakras are spinning vortexes of energy located within the etheric body running from the pubic area all the way up the torso into the crown of our head. We receive, transmit and process life energies through the chakras and each one is recognized as a focal point for life-force relating to spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional energies.

Muladhara – Root Chakra

The first chakra is called the root or base chakra – Muladhara chakra. Located at the very bottom of the spine the energetic expression is like a plate of energy vibrating out from the pubic area. It is the grounding connection between our material bodies and the earth, the relationship to our family and friends as well as the foundation of money that supports us in taking care of our most basic physical needs.

The Sanskrit name – Muladhara – means ‘foundation’, it represents the family we are born into, our ancestral patterns, our DNA. Every other chakra only receives the energy that the root chakra can pass through to it.

When open and balanced, the Root Chakra brings health, prosperity, security and a dynamic presence, reflecting the powerful connection with the world around us.

Chakras for Men

Is Your Root Chakra Open?

Answer the following questions:

  • I have addictive tendencies
  • I have lots of good ideas, but have trouble materializing them
  • Routine things confuse or bore me
  • I worry a lot about survival
  • My life is stressful
  • Security is the most important thing to me
  • In order to reach a higher plane, I have to suffer in my physical existence
  • I have a lot of physical pain – Difficulty with accessing the earth energy can express itself in discomfort in our physical body, especially legs, hips, knees, ankles, feet and lower back.

When the Root Chakra is imbalanced or closed you may loose your sense of identity, confidence, security and perspective. When the energy is closed, off or traumatized, your life reflects this back to you and you may struggle with money, you may have career problems and you might have problems in your relationships with the people who are meant to support you.

Being the foundation of the energy system, having an active and balanced Muladhara Chakra is key to a healthy energy flow.

One of the unique aspects of our Naked Yoga is that it lets you play with Asanas (yoga poses), Bhandas (energy locks), Pranayama (breath work) and Chakras (energy systems).

There are many ways to balance the Root Chakra:

  • Dancing and practicing  Yoga  are some very grounding activities.
  • Going barefoot connects to the earth.
  • Focus and wear the color red, imagining your Root Chakra.
  • Using scents, crystals and positive affirmations like: ‘I know who I am’, ‘I love life’, ‘I am thankful’, ‘I am grateful’ and ‘I am open to life’ to connect to the Spirit.

“The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.” ~ M. Angelou

Joschi Schwarz & Monika Werner

Do you want to meet the love of your life. Look into the mirror.

Self-compassion isn’t some kind of self-improvement project or ideal that we’re trying to live up to. Having self-compassion starts and ends with having compassion for all those unwanted parts of ourselves, all those imperfections that we don’t even want to look at.

We all have the desire to feel special, but to see ourselves positively, we tend to inflate our egos and put others down. We might temporarily feel better about ourselves if we ignore our flaws, but in the long run we only harm ourselves. It’s like a sugar high and then we crash.

So what’s the solution?

Let’s stop judging and evaluating ourselves and simply accept ourselves with an open heart. Let’s treat ourselves with the same kindness, caring and compassion we would show our friends.

Positive effects of Self-Compassion:

  • Self-compassion makes us feel good: it activates the pleasure circuits in the brain, leading to increased happiness.
  • Self-compassion makes us more resilient to stress: lowers stress hormones and strengthens the immune response.
  • Self-Compassion makes us better friends and partners: we are more optimistic and supportive when communicating with others, which leads to greater satisfaction and growth in relationships.
  • Self-compassion makes us more socially adept: we are less vulnerable to loneliness.

Stop the Insanity – Learn to Meditate

We hear it all the time, meditation can have positive effects on our energy, our creative thinking, our stress levels and even our success. Famous artists, business people and politicians swear on the benefits of meditation and have a regular practice, but would it work for you?

Guided Relaxation for Beginners

Studies show that meditation can improve our psychological wellbeing by reducing stress, anxiety, addiction, and depression while at the same time improving memory, attention, critical thinking and decision making.

So what does it actually mean to meditate?

The main purpose of meditation is to remove your attention from the environment to what is happening within. The Tibetan word for meditation ‘Gom’ means ‘to become familiar with’. So meditation simply means to become familiar with ourselves and with the present moment. We are turning our awareness inward to experience our essential nature, which is often described as peace, happiness and bliss.

We have been educated from childhood onward only to examine and verify things in the external world. Meditation teaches us the opposite… to go within, find answers within and to verify within.

If you ever tried to meditate, you’ll know that the mind is the biggest obstacle standing in the way of this awareness of ourselves. It almost seems like the mind has a mind of its own.

The meditation process is to learn how to be still and the process of cultivating stillness begins with the body. This is why Joschi recorded this guided relaxation video to help you completely relax your body and with that relax your mind as well.

Enjoy our Bold & Naked Guided Relaxation to De-Stress and let us know about your meditation experiences in the comments below.

Yoga For Better Sex

According to a study published by The Journal of Sexual Medicine, a regular yoga practice improves several aspects of sexual function, including desire, arousal, orgasm, and overall satisfaction.

Sexual energy is one of the most powerful energies in the body. Yoga is the ultimate way to improve sexual health naturally. Yoga is well known to be an amazing stress reliever that will make you mentally & physically stronger, more agile and flexible, but did you know yoga has the potency to enhance sexual performance and stimulate and increase your ability to enjoy a more powerful orgasm?

THE SECRET: Practiced correctly – Yoga will strengthen all the sexual core muscles located in the pelvis and connected to the sexual organs. Doing Yoga on a regular basis will improve endurance, increase blood flow and naturatelly helps to elevate the body and mind connection for a better sexual experience.

Here are some major ways how YOGA HELPS heat up YOUR SEX LIFE:

Learning how to breath deeply into your pelvic area will bring new awareness to your sexual core muscles. Deep breathing releases tension and stress, which ultimately leads to a better sex life when you can let go and be in the present moment! And imagine what deep yogic breathing through the nose can do to your ability of kissing and other mouth involving activities.

Many yoga poses increase blood flow to the pelvis. In a mostly sedentary world, the muscles running through the pelvis are chronically constricted and as you begin your yoga practice and start working and stretching targeted sexual core muscles, improved circulation with increase blood flow to your genitals will help expose sensitive nerve endings for sexual stimulation and heightened sensation. Arteries that carry blood into the genitals open and extra blood flows into the penis. This extra blood produces erection.

Great sex begins with deep relaxation, which concentrates blood in the central body where it is available to the genitals. Yoga reduces anxiety/stress by reducing levels of the stress hormone, cortisol and elevates mood, which in return improves sexual function.

Yoga not only improves your staying power, but it helps lengthen and strengthen your orgasms. Orgasm involves rapid contractions of the pelvic floor muscles. Kegel exercises – contraction and relaxation of the muscles that squeeze out the last drops of urine – are used in Western medicine. In yoga we strengthen the pelvic floor muscles by engaging the mula bandha – root lock – providing similar benefits.

Yoga has been known to increase muscle strength and help improve flexibility. Many yoga poses require you to support your own body weight in new ways, as a result you are getting stronger and shape long, lean muscles. Stretching your body in new ways will help you to become more flexible and bring greater range of motion to your muscles and joints. Not only will you be in better shape through yoga, but this will enable you to try new positions.

Yoga teaches true mindfulness – living only in the present moment. In a recent study by the Journal of Sexual Medicine, researchers found that most feel they have a problem remaining focused. On a subtle level, yoga helps develop sense awareness in your body that teaches you to savor every sensation in your body. Being rooted you in your body and being able to get out of your head, help you to enjoy the experience in the present moment without being distracted by a million thoughts running through your mind. As you learn to reel in your mind and listen, you will be more able to focus on sensations and respond to your partner, deepening your enjoyment of sex.

Clothing is a barrier between ourselves and the world and affects the way we perceive ourselves and our environment.

If you are okay with being naked you’ll feel more comfortable in general and can take yourself anywhere in the world. That’s very powerful.

Part of yoga is to honor and connect with your body. Practicing yoga naked frees you from negative feelings about your body and allows you to be more accepting of your physical imperfections. You will find a deeper connection with yourself and the world around you.

A Brief History Of Nakedness

‘Man is the sole animal whose nudity offends his own companions, and the only one who, in his natural actions, withdraws and hides himself  from his own kind.’
– Michel de Montaigne

The history of nakedness refers to social attitudes towards nakedness in different cultures. Wearing clothing is an exclusively human characteristic and an element of most human societies.

Going back in time, history reveals that many cultures embraced nakedness. Spartans went naked in sports competitions and their victories inspired the Greek to exercise in the nude even creating the word ‘gymnasium’ which comes from the Greek word gymnos = naked. Romans enjoyed social nudity in magnificent bathhouses and Adamists performed bare church services in North Africa. Germans are avid proponents of ‘Freikoerperkultur’ (Free Body Culture), while Japanese jump naked into hot springs, Finns are naked in saunas and the Jain monks in India live and pray naked.

Being naked socially provides people with considerable mental and physical benefits with the greatest psychological benefit being the acceptance, respect and liking for ones own body and respecting others in their various forms.

So what happened that nakedness today is frowned upon and social nudism is seen as immoral. Why does nudity upset some people and why does it excite others to such a degree. What happened that in the course of human evolution nakedness, which simply represents our body in its natural state, is now a catalyst for contradictory thoughts, feelings and activities.

Yoga, Sex & Chocolate

THE GOOD STUFF… dark chocolate not only may be good for your heart but also may lift your mood, increase your sexual function, and help you live longer.

Of course a large part of chocolate’s appeal lies in its deliciously rich concoction of taste, but chocolate has also been proven to be good for you due to several chemical reactions that are at work! Studies have shown that especially dark chocolate may be good for your heart and as an antioxidant powerhouse, dark chocolate belongs to the same ‘good-for-you’ category as green tea and blueberries.

Chocolate is made from plants, which means they contain many of the health benefits of dark vegetables. Cocoa contains flavonoids – naturally-occurring compounds that act as antioxidants and help counteract the aging process in the body caused by free radicals. Dark chocolate contains nearly eight times the number of antioxidants found in strawberries.

Chocolate is good for your heart!
Research from a study including more than 100,000 subjects at the University of Cambridge found that chocolate consumption is associated with significantly reducing the risk of several cardiovascular disorders and was linked to lower rates of stroke, coronary heart disease and blood pressure.

Fun, Sex and Chocolate
Rumored to be an aphrodisiac  for quiet some time, a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine found that people who ate dark chocolate on a daily basis had higher sexual function than those who didn’t. Chocolate contains both serotonin, which boosts your mood as well as phenylethylamine, which is believed to mimics the feeling of being in love to the brain’s chemistry. In addition, chocolate contains theobromine – an alkaloid, which is similar to caffeine.

Yoga and Chocolate
Another substance found in chocolate is anandamide (from the Sanskrit word ‘ananda’, which means, happiness, peaceful bliss). It binds to the same receptor sites in the brain as cannabinoids and produces a feeling of elation and exhilaration. The darker the chocolate, the better. Eat only less-processed chocolate that contains at least 65 percent cacao or – even better – raw cacao and give your body and brain a boost.
